Optimizing Academic Quality, Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture Unsulbar Benchmarking to FIKP Unhas

The Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture, University of West Sulawesi (Unsulbar) conducted a benchmarking visit to the Faculty of Marine Science and Fisheries (FIKP), Hasanuddin University (Unhas) on October 28, 2024. The activity was attended by two parties, from Unsulbar itself attended by Deputy Dean 1, Deputy Dean 2, Secretary of the Quality Assurance Unit, and Education Personnel, while from FIKP Unhas attended by the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Head and Secretary of the Quality Assurance and Reputation Improvement Unit, and Head of Academic and Student Affairs Subdivision. This benchmarking activity aims to study and adopt best practices implemented by FIKP Unhas in academic management and the development of superior research in the field of marine and fisheries.

“Benchmarking activities are a strategic step to improve the quality of education and academic services at Unsulbar. We really appreciate the reception from FIKP Unhas and hope to utilize the knowledge gained from this visit to enrich the academic process, especially in the development of research and cooperation with related sectors, “said Vice Dean 1 Unsulbar.

This series of activities includes academic discussions with the leadership of FIKP Unhas, some points of discussion are related to how FIKP is able to plan, implement, control and develop an academic quality assurance system and is responsible for improving quality in a planned and sustainable manner, as well as assessing and developing a learning system and is responsible for the implementation of a quality, relevant, effective and efficient learning process.

In addition, Head of GPMPR, Dr. Nursinah Amir explained the routine activities carried out by GPMPR such as accreditation assistance, compiling quality objectives and faculty risk management, conducting ISO 9001: 2015 SMM audits, conducting customer satisfaction surveys and others. Introduction to digital-based academic information systems implemented at Unhas, as well as visits to research laboratories and marine and fisheries study centers that play an important role in supporting research-based education at FIKP Unhas.

It is hoped that this benchmarking activity will not only benefit Unsulbar, but also open up opportunities for research collaboration and innovation between the two institutions, especially in the field of marine and fisheries. This benchmarking is expected to be the first step for the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and Agriculture of Unsulbar and FIKP Unhas to improve innovation and quality of academic services, strengthen research programs, and establish strategic partnerships for the development of education in Eastern Indonesia.
