The Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries, Hasanuddin University (FIKP Unhas) held an event to input documents supporting SDG 14: Life Below Water, which took place on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at the FIKP Quality Assurance and Reputation Improvement Unit Room. This activity is part of FIKP’s efforts to support the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 14, which focuses on the conservation and sustainable use of marine resources and aquatic ecosystems.
The event was attended by the FIKP Unhas SDGs 14 Team, consisting of Prof. Dr. Ahmad Faisal, ST, M.Si., Dr. Ir. Nursinah Amir, S.Pi., MP., Dr. Yayu Anugrah La Nafie, ST., M.Sc., Kasri, S.Pi., M.Si., Dr. Abigail Mary Moore, Jamaluddin Fitrah Alam, Ph.D, and Mufti Hatur Rahmi, S.Tr.Pi., M.Si. The document input process took place from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. in a conducive atmosphere full of collaborative spirit. All participants actively discussed to ensure that each piece of evidence uploaded was in line with the indicators and criteria for SDG 14 ranking.
The points of document input compiled in this activity cover various important aspects of water resource management, including those related to freshwater ecosystems, sustainable fisheries, overfishing, conservation and sustainable use of the sea, food from aquatic ecosystems (policy), maintaining ecosystems and their biodiversity, technology for preventing damage to aquatic ecosystems, guidelines and standards for water discharge, action plans to reduce plastic waste, reducing marine pollution (policy), minimizing changes to aquatic ecosystems (plan), monitoring the health of aquatic ecosystems, programs towards good aquatic management practices, collaboration for shared aquatic ecosystems, and watershed management strategies.
Each point is supported by evidence in the form of news links and brief descriptions of activities/programs that have been implemented by FIKP, so that they can be used as a basis for assessment in the SDG ranking process carried out by the assessment team.
This data entry activity concluded with an internal team discussion session to discuss follow-up actions for strengthening documentation, compiling achievement narratives, and strategies for increasing FIKP’s contribution to supporting the sustainable achievement of SDG 14 in the future.
Through this activity, FIKP Unhas reaffirmed its commitment to preserving the sustainability of marine and aquatic ecosystems, while also supporting the university’s global reputation through tangible performance on SDG indicators.
