The campus as a place to gain knowledge is very important for the future of the nation. Students as potential successors to the nation need to be carefully prepared to support the noble ideals of the nation and more specifically to realize the vision and mission of the Hasanuddin University Faculty of Marine Sciences and Fisheries (FIKP Unhas). To achieve this, FIKP as a study program management unit (UPPS) needs to ensure that academic and non-academic processes run smoothly. One definite effort to ensure that the process runs well is to develop a standard operating procedure (SOP) which is used as a reference in academic and non-academic implementation within the FIKP scope.
FIKP has swiftly revised the standard operating procedure (SOP) to adjust some of Hasanuddin University’s rules and policies that have changed. FIKP is holding Finalization of Academic and Non-Academic SOPs on 20-21 August 2022 at the Swiss-Belinn Panakukang Hotel, Makassar City. This activity was attended by the Dean of FIKP, deputy deans, heads of departments, heads of study programs, and FIKP lecturers as well as the FIKP Academic and Non-Academic SOP Finalization committee.
The activity began with a report from the Head of the Quality Assurance Group (GPM) as well as the head of the committee, namely Dr. Nursinah Amir, S.Pi., M.Sc. In her delivery, Nursinah said that the implementation of this revision had actually been carried out in the last two months. Each committee has been given the task of revising academic and non-academic SOPs. Today, August 20, 2022, the finalization of the SOP will be carried out until tomorrow. The number of SOPs to be finalized is 36 consisting of academic and non-academic SOPs. We hope that this activity will run smoothly and we hope that this SOP document can be completed so that it can be immediately submitted to the faculty senate to be ratified, and printed.
The next activity was the Speech by the Dean of FIKP as well as opening the FIKP Academic and Non-Academic SOP Finalization activities. Change is a necessity that needs to be responded to and adapted to the demands of the times. This revision of the SOP is very important and the most important thing is not the availability of the latest SOP document but how do we implement the SOP as soon as possible and this is evidence of a strong commitment from the heads of study programs, departments and faculties to provide excellent service to the academic community so that FIKP students can completed on time with competency targets according to the study program can be achieved “said the Dean of FIKP in his speech”.
The SOP finalization activity was carried out for two days. The SOP revision that was carried out was then finalized through corrections and suggestions for improvement from the SOP committee team which had been assigned by the Dean through Decree Number 90/UN4.15/KEP/2022. Each team made a presentation of the SOP that had been given and then discussed it with other committees. The implementation of this activity went well as planned by the committee. The finalized SOP document will be re-examined by the Quality Assurance Group before being submitted to the FIKP Senate.
To follow up on the results of the finalization of this SOP, the Deputy Dean for Academic, Research and Innovation will submit the SOP to the Faculty Senate for approval and will then socialize it to the FIKP academic community. It is hoped that students can easily access SOPs that have been prepared and implemented properly to support the learning process while studying at FIKP until students complete their studies.
